Ford 360 FE
krewat has the info on the post 72 engines and we should have them posted somewhere. The ratings are hard to find but if you bug krewat he has them.

Anyway, here goes: '73 360 and up, all 2bbl, all 8:1 compression, and trying to fix obvious typos where they mixed up HP and torque:
'73 360:
HP: F100 auto 161@3600, F250/350 except Calif. 159@3400, F250/350 California 145@3600
Torque: F100 auto 257@2000, F250/350 except Calif. 264@2200, F250/350 California 263@2000
'74 360:
F100 4x2 manual HP - 157@4000 trq - 265@2200
F100 4x2 auto HP - 151@3800 trq - ??? (shows torque in the wrong spot)
F100 4x4 manual HP - 153@4000 trq - 262@2200
F100 4x4 auto HP - 148@3800 trq - 256@2200
F250/350 HP - ???@3600 (missing HP #) trq - 263@2000
'75 360:
HP: 155@3800 trq - 263@2000 all
'76 360:
F100 non-CA HP - 145@3800 trq - 264@2200
F150-350 non-CA HP - 145@3600 trq - 263@2000
F100 CA HP - 145@3800 trq - 250@2200
F150-350 CA HP - 145@3800 trq - 251@2200
These are NET figures...
And please, everyone, stop saying the 360 has "no" HP. It's a decent TRUCK motor - I put one through all sorts of off-road conditions, never ran out of power with 31" snow-tires on it. Even broke the Dana 60 rear diff carrier in HALF once. Plenty of torque...

The 360 was still a very torqey engine compared to others of close displacement.

I can tell you that in 1970 it had 170 gross horsepower at 4,000rpm.
'68-70 360 2bbl HP - 215@4400 trq - 327@2600 GROSS
8.4:1 compression.
need to rebuild the 360 and considering going 390
my motor also has edel man with 4 bbl and headers so i should be gaining some hp
The tag on my door pillar says 170HP at 4,100rpm. I was off by a hundred. My truck came with a stock 2bbl 360. It was not a california truck either.
215@4400 GROSS sounds about right, compared to 160HP NET. So, at only 170 GROSS, you're are GROSSLY underrated

170 GROSS would be around 120 NET - I don't think even the 360 is THAT low ...
hey krewat--i have a 76 f250 -360 4x4...does your info tell what hp / torq is and comparison to if it were 390??

As for the 390, the '76 put out:
2bbl, non-California, 8.2:1, HP - 156@3400 trq - 292@2600
4bbl non-California, 8.2:1, HP - 195@4000 trq - 312@2400
Noise-regulated 390's lost 5 HP and 20ft/lbs.
Noise-regulated CA 4bbls lost 12 HP and 12ft/lbs.
The 2bbl 390 doesn't put out much more HP than the 360 and does it at a much lower RPM, showing it needs to breath more - the 4bbl really shows the 390's true colors. It also points out that the exhaust logs are not all that bad, every little thing helps.
Again, figures are NET
