K7KTF-Got it 1960. Back then it cost 5 bucks to renew it and I had to let it go because I couldn't come up with the five. Also had W0FPX, WB6ICJ, and another I can't remember. (Moved around a lot when I was a kid). Still remember code (can copy at least 15).
73's and 88's to all! Ran out of QSL's a long time ago. Had the WAC, WAS, and the (can't remember this one either) 100 countries. Even talked to a guy on the south pole in 1963. (in code, of course!)
I've got a FT-101EE, (just a few more pieces needed for the complete station). Tubes are still in good shape for now. Have a bunch of various parts rigs, mostly commercial band, with my FT-857 being the newest toy.
Most of my stuff is Tube: Hallicrafters HT32A, SX101A, SX62A, TO Keyer; Hammarlund Super Pro, HQ180C; Collins 75A-1, 32V2; Heathkit DX40, HW32, HW22 and Apache transmitter. I have a few "breadboarded" tube radios as well. I built them a while back. One is a Regenerative 80meter receiver using 201-A's and batteries. The other is a single tube transmitter. I love the older gear. It takes a little more to maintain and operate, but its a joy to use (wait a minute... I drive a 70 F250... that takes a little more to maintain and operate, but it's a joy to use.. coincidence??? )
My only solid state gear is my Elecraft K2 and the VHF stuff.
