Looking for EGR
I'm looking for the EGR valve on my '97 5.0 AWD EB. I see components at rear of intake, but the only one that resembles an EGR valve is on a fuel rail. I see one on top with a diaphragm in it, but it looks too large and involved to be an EGR.
I've seen a photo posted by CobraXP of the rear of a 5.0 engine with the mounting plate for the EGR, but mine is different.
Can anyone post a pic or description of an EGR on this engine?
I was told I could remove and clean it to clear a CEL.

You are probably missing the DPFE - right?!?!?!
You have the early style intake/EGR setup. You do not have a DPFE sensor. Your EGR is in the same position as the one I posted, just looks different. Find your throttle body. Follow the intake elbow around to the back. The EGR valve is mounted basically in the same place as on the pic I posted, but bolts directly to the elbow. You will see it has an orangeish looking plunger in it...
What you are seeing on the fuel rail is your fuel pressure regulator.

Thanks, Cobra! I was pretty sure that was it but it just didn't look right. I appreciate the response. Now all I have to do is get to the nut on the bottom of the thing so I can remove it to clean it out!

Good luck! Get ready for a few choice words to be yelled.... 
I have taken mine off a few times, and with the addtion of the supercharger, it gave me a little extra hand room. But I won't forget the first time I did it...
While you have it off, I would look at changing the PCV valve and maybe the EGR solenoid (the black cylinder mounted just to the side of the EGR valve). The solenoid is only around $15.00, and it is just easier to do it while you have everything taken apart...
