I've noticed a rattle that seems to be coming from my door. Even on the smoothest of surfaces it rattles slightly and/or creaks. When doors are closed there is no movement as I checked from the outside. Sounds like the window or door. Anyone else have this problem. It's starting to get annoying.
I had the same type of syptoms. What mine turned out to be was the pass. cab door. The lower lock clasp was not laching. Took it to the dealer and they fixed it.
My driver side doors creak squeek and whistle told it was "normal truck noise". Now that my truck is in for a tranny. problem they said they would fix the doors.
I have it too. It's been in the shop on several occasions for "adjustments", the dealer says they can't find a TSB on the subject and the adjustments last about a week, when the grease goes away.
I've had the seat bottoms and slide rails replaced on my captains chair, now the back portion creaks. Oh well, they sure are comfortable seats.
What I have done in the past is jiggle the back door handle a few times letting it slam back into position. This seems to work for a little while then it comes back. I talked to the dealer and he said the same thing, it is "normal" for these trucks...It may be normal, but it sure is annoying...I wonder is greasing up the components inside the handle will work??
Damn, I am lazy! I have had the same problem on my '00 F-250 for some time now. My noise comes from the back driver's side door on my Super Cab. It is intermittant so when I have time to try to determine the source of the rattle, it goes away! But when I am busy as he!!, there it is! My local Ford Dealers are about as helpful as an air conditioner in January. I will keep tabs on this to see what you all find out.
I have the same, (I think) noise on my crew cab. I have thought it was the door gaskets, seals. I happens for me only when the truck is turning or on rough road or coming out of a driveway, stuff like that. Sort of like the cab is flexing a bit. I have thought about putting some silicone on the rubber seals around the door to see if it stops. I guess I have just become used to it so have not tried to pin it down or fix it yet.
All I have to say is that Ford makes a really crappy truck. I have had my 2001 F-250 CC SD 5.4l slappin piece of crap back to the dealer 6 times already for the doors. All of them make noise!!!! They creek, rattle, and squeak. This is my first and last Ford.
neveragain, sounds like you are a prime candidate for a Toyota!! Had 1 in '87. Was great for a single guy and groceries. Fun in snow. Quiet. Plain. Weak. No power. Completely rusted out in 5 years.
With out going in to why i had to take my doors apart I found out why the stupid thing whistle. There is absolutely no seal around the exterior door handles. you can even see light through all four of them. I have a 1999 model and I don't know if they corrected this later on but I kinda wonder about this.
