Ca Emissions
First time user. Looks like a site that may answer my question. I live in Colorado and found a F-250, 2000, CC, SB, V-10, AT that fits my liking but it has California Emissions and not the High altitude principle (HAPU) use. I have talked to 5 Co dealers and they say that the HAPU only restricts the engine/diff gear set-up and that the Ca emissions should make no difference. One California dealer said he did not know what additional components were include for Ca Emissions. My concern is that in the long run I may be sorry for getting a CA truck because the emission package may include vacuum lines (the less the better) or some type of horsepower draining components or something that will just compicate maintenance down the road. Does anybody know what the package differences are or if it is any big deal at all? Thanks for your time.:-)

Not sure about everything that the CA emissions pkg has, but one thing for sure is that it has an EGR system. Also, F350s have a relatively small reduction in GVWR from 9900 to 9700 lbs when equipped with the CA pkg.
I'd be more concerned about getting the high-altitude programming. A guy down in the V10 forum had his truck recalibrated for altitude and was very happy with the increase in power.
