98 Explorer pre amp

98 Explorer pre amp

I wanted to find out if any body knows if all the explorers have some type of pre amp in them, including the explorers without the JBL sound system?

I have one speakers that only has half the volume of all the others. I have replaced the speaker also

i had a 94 xlt that had the factory pre-amp, its behind the passenger side rear plastic cover near the wheel well area

Thank you very much. I spoke to a local stereo repair shop the other day. I took care of the problem last night. I ended up rewiring both the feed from the preamp and the feed to the speaker. I have a short in the wiring some where.
