Drive line vibration???

Question Drive line vibration???

I am debating between getting a 4 inch lift or a 6 inch lift. I am concerned that a 6 inch lift will add more drive line vibration than 4 inch??

Anyone ever experience dirve line vibration witha 6" lift.

I have a 2004 F250 4x4 super cab... 5.4 v-8

I have the 4 inch lift already paid for but can switch it to a 6 inch with just a little more money. It will either be a Pro Comp of a BDS.

One consideration is that I only have 33's on my truck at present and have no intention to go larger until they wear out. Will the 33's look too bad with a 6" lift? Should I stay with the 4"???

I value your opinions..

Many have and needed to shim thier carrier bearing bracket or change to a 1 piece rear shaft.
I have not, because I have a reg cab and no carrier bearing.

Someone will come along and help you with the process

Is the truck a Short Bed or a Long Bed??



33s will look a little small on a 6", but if you really want a 6" that's what I'd go with and save up to get bigger tires.

Between Pro Comp and BDS if you care about ride quality go with the BDS.........if you care about price then go with the cheaper one .

It is a regular bed - super cab. The 6 foot bed if that helps any.

I just want to avoid any undue drive line vibration due to pinion angle.

Both kits cost about the same. The 6 inch is done fully with springs and the 4 inch is done with springs and blocks.

Then, it sounds like you have a one piece rear driveshaft. I don't hear of as many vibration issues with them, guys that have them could fill you in though.

My truck and all my friends have two piece rear driveshaft which are more problematic with vibration issues because of the carrier bearing.

If in fact you do have a one piece drive shaft, you shouldn't run in to any issues as long as your carefull not to pull the yoke off the shaft and put it back on out of phase.

1 - Yes it is a one piece drive shaft

2 - so then I should mark the drive shaft and yolk so that should they become seperated I can properly index it back to the same location.

Yup, that's the way to do it. I usually tape around the u joint caps also, nothing worse than trying to pick up a zillion needle bearings...
