well im already lookin for more power... and i think headers is gone be my best bet.. with dual exhuast.. but if its to big of a job i won't bother... has anyone done headers on a truck similair to mine? my old chevy use to be easy.. but had to jack the motor up a bit to get the one side in.. doesnt look like much room at all under there.. but somtimes the headers just slide in from the bottom? thanx for any help

You might get a better response down in the 460 engine forum. Several guys there have installed headers.

my truck is 20 years older than ours but i can tell you how mine went it. i had all the stock exhaust, from manifolds back to single side exit. it was really rusty and since i wasnt going to keep any of it i just cut out everything from the manifolds back. this was by far the biggest help.

i have ac in my truck so that made it a lot harder. driver side went in really easy, as there isnt much to get in the way. i slid them in from underneath.

the passenger side took much more work to get them to fit, especially around the starter, as mine comes pretty close, an inch or two away from the starter. some of the bolts are hard to get to towards the back of the block, especially when you try to get them torqued right.

all in all, with all the removal of the old, and installation, it took me twelve hours to get everything in and torqued down. the best part though was starting it up after with just open headers. wow was that amazing. some people say that it will lag more with open headers, but not mine it was amazing.

i drove it with open headers for a few days while till i got to the muffler shop... best part about them is the power difference. on my truck you cant see them under the frame at all, and the exhaust is all tucked up into the frame. good luck. i hope this helps.
