Hi,I'm brand new to the site but have owned many fords. I have a 2000 Ford F250 EC 4x4 and want to put the factory auxillary lights that come on the new 250/350s. Will they fit or do I have to change the bumper assembly.
Welcome!
The factory fog lights are not known to be of the highest quality. I'd recommend buying a set of aftermarket lights. Either way, you shouldn't need a new bumper... they just mount in the lower opening.
My F250 has the aux low-beam lights mounted in the lower bumper area and they help... Some... If I were doing it again, I would get some aftermarket lights from PIAA or some other manufacturer. You will spend a few more $$$, but you will be pleased with the brighter results. I'm thinking of replacing the bulbs in mine with aftermarket bulbs (~$60).
OBTW, I just installed PIAA 80 series driving lights tied into my high-beams... WOW!
I put the "Ford" lights in my 2000. You will have to add a strap at the top of the bumper, over eack light. The 2000 have a cut out in the rolled down lip where the lights mount. It is easy, buy about 18" of 3/16" strap and put a bolt on each side. Pull the bumber off it is easier than working from below. Also you will have to cut out the plastic trim.
My Ford auxillary lights are Hellas. I ordered them out of the Ford Super Duty accessory catalog. The 2000 didn't come with fog lights, so I ordered them. I was curious who made them, and looked at my fog lights, and sure enough, they say HELLA.
I sold my factory fog lamps off my 2001 Super Duty to a friend with a 2000. The bracket/light assembly will mount (the screw holes exist on your truck) but you won't have the harness. You will have to wire them yourself.
I just got a set for my rig from FORD I have a 2000 I thought I was gonna get the same one's the newer trucks have. I got HELLA's they told me I would have to get a new bumper if I wanted the newer ones. I am happy with the HELLA.
