Finally Blew It Up....

Well I finally ruined the motor in my '89 Aerostar.
3.0 the one that I was having the Mysterious Coolant leak on.
She finally died at 220K
Now I need to find a good motor, I already have a mechanic that will put it in for $500 and he has done several.

You looking for used? If so go to car-part.com and see if you can find a lower mileage one for a decent price.

If it was me......I'd either rebuild the one I had or buy a rebuilt one. Putting a used one in is just waiting for trouble.

It could blow out at any time. Then you'll be out the price of the install and the engine......Not to mention if you live in an area that you have to Smog your car. A used engine might not pass, then you'll be out the cost to fix that......

I sort of agree with JTHill24, depending on what happened with your engine it might be better to get that one rebuilt or if the failure was terminal then a rebuilt motor would be a better way to go.

My point being is that if you can find a complete engine with low mileage, say under 50K, you can get the complete engine with the low mileage injectors, sensors etc. I have seen used engines with 3 month 4500 mile warrantys, so if you can get one with a warranty you would not have a lot of risk. It's your choice, and both options have their advantages.

I have some of the parts you are looking for

Are you still looking for a trans and seats?
I have a 1990 x-tended 4WD with a newly rebuild transmission by a local shop. The engine runs, but was overheated and might have some damage from that.
The seats are in excellent condition. The original cloth has always been covered with seat covers.
Engine is 3L
