Could someone tell me how to make my driving lights come on with the parking lights on.
Currently they will only come on with the head lights. Any advise would be helpful. Thank you
Careful, in some states that is illegal. Check first. Also the wiring is tied into the low beam circuit so they only work when low beams are on ( remember laws ).
You might be able to find your states' vehicle code online in there department website and find the relevant section. In Texas you can have up to four white lights shining forward at one time, or less, but they must fall within certain parameters as to height and distance from the front of the vehicle. In addition, there is a uniform federal code that states must adhere to relative to heighth above ground, pattern, maximum watts, etc. for the primary head lights. You didn't define what you mean by driving lights, but I assume you mean the fog lights in the lower fascia below the bumper and not the normallyu placed headlights in the fender leading edges. For them or any other lights, the same rules apply. Look online for your state's DOT website.
Well, I for one couldn't care less what the local laws are regarding this issue. YOur two replies, though informative, did not answer nor even address the actual question here which is, Can you turn on the 'foglamps' with only the parking lights on? I don't think it can be done in the stock configuration, you may have to add a second switch and wire them manually to do what you wish.
You can clip the red/black wire feeding the foglight switch and connect it to a +12 volt source that gives the functionality you want. I hooked mine to the turn signal supply fuse at the kick-panel fuse holder so that they function as DRLs whenever the ignition and the foglight switch is on. The switch pops out from the front of the panel and it can also be accessed by pulling off the end cap from the instrument panel.
