Flush the steering system and refill with fresh ATF or Power steering fluid. Sometimes oxidation and crud in the old fluid will interfere with smooth operation and prevent the pump from working correctly. The plastic ford pumps ain't the best but some is better than none.
Disconnect the low pressure line from the pump and extend out to a LARGE CONTAINER. Have 5-6 qts handy (open) and (with a helper ) turn on engine and flush old fluid out rotating the wheel full lock to lock. When you get to the 6th qt, shut the engine down, re-attach the hose and turn on engine and turn wheel lock to lock a few time to get air out and fill to mark. This may take another qt. or so.
This should help with the morning sickness and growling.
