I have a 2001 F350,Crew cab 4x4 7.3L powerstroke with 98,000 miles on it.
I only put about 12,000 miles per year on my truck.
I am wanting to replace all of my coolant hoses, thermostat, & flush the entire system & drain the engine block. After reading many topics on this subject.
I am just wanting an overall opinion of what to use:
option 1
1)the correct green antifreeze
2)fw-16 additive
3)test strips
This route just seems to nickel & dime you to death year after year
& to retest & then add the additves.
option 2
or just merely buy the Evans NPG coolant setup.
It seems to be a lot easier to add the Evans NPG coolant & forget it.I spoke to a tech guy at Evans & he said that their product lasts up to 500,000 miles & needs no additives or testing with strips.
On the other hand it is very expensive but it lasts a long time.
Yes it is expensive initially but Ive heard nothing but good things about it. I personally haven't changed yet but Evans will be the way I go when I do.
I'm looking to do some upgrades to my psd also. New coolant to prevent cavitation is definately one of them. What does the Evans cost and how much do you need?
Just make sure your water pump can handle the extra pumping load. Evans coolant has a higher viscosity than water/antifreeze mix, so it will circulate slower.
