Hi, I wanted to know if I could replace the stock 2bl carb on my 77 E150 with a 4bl without changing the intake manifold? I have a 351W. Also which carb should I go with?
Thanks,
Andy
it's possible to use an adaptor plate but i'd recomend replacing the intake as well i've had good luck with edelbrock carbs& intakes they're fairly cheap and easy to tune. holleys usually put out more power but they are more expensive and complicated and the power valves blow out quite often.
good luck with the swap
I second the above comment, change the intake with the carb. I like the weiand stealth or edelbrock intakes/ edelbrock carbs. Check ebay you might be able to find a 4V stock aluminum intake for a decent price, might find an aftermarket one cheap as well. later
Thanks for the info. I will keep my eyes open on ebay. I think I still have to pass CA smog one more time so is there anything to watch out for when buying a intake and carb?
Couldn't say, I don't have emissions testing, so right now its a free for all. . I do know that edelbrock offers intakes with egr and I am sure the carbs are emissions legal but you better contact them directly to be sure, or call summit or jegs, they could probably help as well.
