front wheel hub assembly problems.[bearings shot]?

i think my bearings have gone bad in my front wheel hub assembly.anyone/everyone had this problem?psd 4x4 7.3.automatic trans.1999.any and all help or advice relating to this problem woukd be greatly appreciated. im going to fix /change bearings myself and would welcome any ideas regarding my chore ahead of me.also,any website that might make it easier or better as for as diagrams.thanx yall,waldo

According to Ford the 99+ hub bearings are not servicable. Replace as an assembly.

What is the sound it is making I have a 99 and I thought I needed a new hub assembly changed it and I still have a humming sound when I turn or hit a bump.

johnram1,promise to get back to you and let you know the best i can as far the sound/noise being made. i'm posting for a friend,but will ask him about the type of sound being made.hope i can help.

How long have you had the sound? What changes if any occurred prior to the sound? Does it occur at the same speed? Pull the front tires and check vertical play in the front assembly. Chances are good its your hub which is causing your caliper to constantly ride the disk on one edge. If this is the case, the hub will go any minute now. If it's not the hub, I had my drivers side brake semi-lock which made a humming sound.

Items to try IMO would be brake pads

johnram1,sorry it took so long to get back to you.my friend works 12hr shifts and he just got in.it seems the noise happens only when he hits a bump or something like that.it is a ''clunk''not a hum.hope this helps.
