LOL! confused is my middle name... but no I just like simple and cheap. I looked at the Kodaks cheap one and it still had mor "options" than what I want, dont care for vidios moving anything or zooms, I geuss I'm looking for something my dog could almost use. I'm no photogrfer hell I cant even spell correctly half the time! lol, but it seems like everything these days including trucks are getting so overstuffed they go too far.
the kodak I looked at on their page was the cx6200 it went for $99
hang10, i'm a vender too, only in equipment sales, once you figure out what you want, & for how much $$$, beat your vender down on price, he'll budge once he know that you have done your reseach
Who ever quoted you those prices, do not buy from them.
Just your first example, the HP 635. I bought one within the last month, for $129, retail. There's no reson to pay $200 for it.
You can get a 128MB card for this thing for around $50. That's more than you're going to get in any package deal I've seen.
I don't know about the rest of the prices, but it seems if this one, an entry level camera, are that overpriced, then most likely the rest are out of line also.
question about "blowing up the image" dont y'all have a program like PSP you can use for that? I'm confused about why you cant "blow up" your pictures?
seems easy enough to resize it that way, but maybe I missed something.
yeah I'm thinking of seeing if walm. has it, and or what elce they have. that was kodaks price.

It is not that you can't blow up the image. But when you have lower resolution, you can only blow it up so big before the picture quality degrades. You start to see the pixels that make up the picture. (Which is why you want more megapixels).
The best example I can give is when they capture the photo of someone off a surveillance tape and blow it up on TV so everyone watching the news can try to identify the person. The pictures always look grainy or digitized. The reason you want more megapixels and to take a picture on the best resolution your camera can take is so that if you do decide to enlarge the image, you maintain the quality of the photo.
i got my concord digital camara 3.1 mega pixel at walmart last week, yeah walmart lol. but there on sale for 85 bucks. and it works great, comes with all the software and usb cords, and it takes video too. i also got a 64 mg card for it so i wouldnt be limited to the onboard 7 megs. it has zoom and everything 85 bucks now everyone can get one and show off your trucks
to help put it simply, whenyou take pic say 3x4, with small pix camera, you can't see the indivual pixeles that make up the pic,
now enlarge that same pic to 9x12 and you will see gaps inbetween the pixel's. which is why more is better if your going to enlarge the picture,
thanks Opiewan, I'm more excited now... off shopping I go saturday! thanks guys.
I knew what MP's were and what hapens to the pic when its enlarged, but I always had to shrink them after puting them on the computer... they were bigger than the screen. now maybe y'all are talking about making prints, as I noticed alot of the new fangled digi's do that too. but anyhow thanks all for the info and input and trying to bring me into the 20th centry.
well, not actually bigger than the screen, and its only a lil 13" or so monitor... lol.

I actually just ordered an inexpensive digital camera earlier this week - a Kodak cx6230, which is a definite step up from the cx6200. 2 megapixel, 3x optical w/3.3x digital zoom. They wanted $150 for it at Best Buy and Circuit City, but I eventually found it online for $110...it pays to shop around. Online you can get the 3 megapixel version of that camera for $160-$170...thought about getting that one, but for now I'll get the cheap one and upgrade later when prices come down and I decide exactly what I need.
That model hasn't been out very long, but the reviews I've read were pretty favorable...it appeared to be the best camera out there for the money. According to Fedex it'll be delivered either today or Monday, so then I'll try it out and see what I think...perhaps I'll put some pics up on a site so that people can see what kind of quality it produces. I know it's a fairly low-end model, but I wanted something fairly cheap for snapshots and such - I'll use my 35mm for when I need 'good' photos.
We have Cannon Powershot S45s and they take unbelieveable pictures. Plus you can take 3 min. mpegs. I'm going to get my wife a PS S50 for her birthday.
