Well for anyone that saw my earlier post pertaining to the airshow photos I took. I have been looking lately at an upgrade for the camera that I used this time.
So far I am liking the Nikon Coolpix 12.1 Megapixel with the 15x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom. Down side is I see alot of people left feedback on the item talking about how the sport feature cant capture a still image of a spinning ceiling fan, or that they had trouble with the camera focusing that it would focus on something other than the intended target was that the green square was situated at.
I am curious anyone here used that brand before, and if so what do they think of it?
As far as to what I am looking for simply put
1. High optical zoom
2. High megapixel
3. video recording feature with high quality mic
I think the Nikon Coolpix 12.1 Megapixel would suit me for getting better closer in air shots at the next airshow both photo stills and video. But I am slowly looking at others as well.
if you can afford it i would recomend a digital slr camera..something like the cannon rebel..they arent horribly expensive and you control the focus and they take much better pictures..

I looked at the SLR cameras, didnt see any in the price range I was looking at.
I also dont think a manual focus would work in my case. When I was taking the photos at the airshow the sun every year always bleaches out the LCD screen where you are "guessing" where the plane is in relation to the photo and just take a blind shot. I think it would be almost impossible to do that with a digital camera with manual focus unless you have the view finder which I didnt see one for under $300 that had the viewfinder as well.
I'm looking for a digital camera with the fastest shutter speed possible. 8 megapix or more with a short video feature too. My Kodiac makes good pictures. It just takes so long to finish taking each picture. I'd like to take wildlife pictures but its too slow to capture all the shots. I also need the ability to use bigger lenses like a good 35mm. I use my camera to document the jobs I do as a door & window warranty repair tech. The better the photos are the easier it is to show the before & after issues.
The camera I used in the photos in my aircraft Identification topic is a Nikon Coolpix L18 with a 3x Optical Zoom. I think the L110 I am looking at with 15x Optical zoom and 5x digital zoom along with stereo sound and HD 720P video should give me the added upgrade from the L18
