Skid Plate Choices

This is my first post and I'd like to comment on the depth of information that can be found here, which leads me to my question. My SD didn't come with the Off-Road package, and I am looking to install skid plates for the vulnerable gas tank and t-case. Has anyone done an install of the factory or aftermarket skid plates? I'm interested in knowing if it is a bolt-on installation, if better (stronger) aftermarket units are available, and where I can get the best price. Thanks in advance.

The transfer case is just a bolt on, not very stout though but serves the purpose. Had it off once to beat it back flat with a sledge.

There both bolt on .Not the strongest looking ones I've seen but serve the purpose.I suppose you could beef them up with some added plate steel.

You could buy two sets & bolt them on together for "double" strength. ;-)

What kind of price as my F250 Superduty doesn't have the off
road package either as I would like to at least protect the
transfer case. If nothing else.

1999 F250 Superduty Ext cab, long bed, V10, 4.30 ls, am fm cassett
cd, six way drivers seat, power windows, keyless entry, automatic
rubber floor, cloth seats, cruise , power side mirrors, Goodyear
MTR's 285/75/16, stock ride hight and a couple of weston nerf bars,
K&N filter charger, and a Helix Power tower, towing pkg.

Saving the money for a chip.

You'll want to shop around because different dealers will have different prices. There are also a couple of on-line Ford parts stores that supposedly have really good prices. Sorry I can't remember their URL. Maybe someone will post them.
