Buying 94 bronco
Buying 94 bronco
I am looking at buying a 94 bronco XLT it is fairly clean and does need a little body work. But my concern is when test driving I noticed slight bump coming from what appears to be coming from the rear. The second issue is the doors rattle like they are not shut all the way but they are any suggestions. I really like this truck and for 4500 it is not a bad deal. Also the abs light blinks the dealer said the brakes have been redone but the light will not go off and the airbag light blinks as well
I'd take it to an independant mechanic and have them look at it - before you buy. If the dealer is confident of the vehicle, he won't have any problems with this. Having a brake problem that won't go away does not make any deal a good one. Good luck
Sounds like it has been wrecked. I'd look closely around the hood and door seams for signs of overspray or primer. If you see any, run. You could also run a carfax report, or maybe find someone with an unlimited month worth or reports to run it for you. If it shows up as wrecked, again, run. If it shows up as OK, that doesn't mean much as it could have still been wrecked and not reported...you will have to rely on your eyes and observations.
If you think it has been repaired, remember, who ever repaired it didn't have the technical competence to address the ABS and Air Bag systems or get the doors to fit. It's doubtful they took much more care with the rest of the repair.

Thanks for the advice. I asked the dealer if i could take it to my mechanic and he said he ahd not problem with that. Now if it has not been wrecked how do you get the ligts to stop blinking
and the doors to shut tight LOL

AMEN to what Corey said. Sounds like it has been through a hell of a problem. Take it to another mechanic that YOU choose...not the dealer. As Corey also said, if he is confident that the truck is a good one, he won't have a problem with you doing that.
The only time the ABS should be on is when it is being set during start up or if there is a problem with the system. It should NOT be on during normal use of the truck.

How much body work? The bump from the rear could be the slip joint on the rear drive shaft. Mine was on my '95. Remove and clean and grease and it is all fixed. The doors could be due to a poor weatherstrip piece or just not latching proper. Simple adjustments should help. The ABS light should have been taken care of with the brake job but some mechanics do not know that bleeding the brakes may effect the light. Get it looked at. The air bag light needs to be looked at as a faulty system. Since you are buying from a dealer, he should not have a problem looking into these minor details. If it takes much more than the items I said, then I would either talk a lower price if you want to deal with the problems or look else where.
