Regarding the ZF transmission.
WIsh we could email, this would make things easier and not clutter forum
ZF S5-42, S5-47 Five Speed Manual Heavy Duty 2WD or 4WD
whts diff between the 2?
I might take out a loan and get my engine rebuilt for my truck. I loose a lil ani freeze. No biggie, very slow loss of it.
But the engine been worked hard and raged on. Rebuild would be good for it.
So i was gonna get a good tranny for it too. The mazda was raged on, and you can tell when you shift. IT dosn't always like to shift. Syncro's are going.
not to sure how much i'm going to need to rebuild.
Only going to put few performance parts in it. New pistons.

The 47 is a newer model rated at 470 ft-lbs of torque...the 42 is an older one model that was rated for 420 ft-lbs. You can probably find the 42 easier then the 47. The 2wd or 4wd will have a different output shaft. The 4wd has a "plate" if you will, that you bolt the transfer case onto.
