Is there an upgrade u-joint for the stock half ton joints like there are for the front drive axles, something stronger than stock but fits in the same hole?
i run brute strenghts(sc) in my 4x4 drive-lines with great luck. they come covered for life and are greaseaable. strongest i've found so far. just stay away from auto zone joints cause they are weak. i've also seen kits to upgrade to bigger joints, but you'd have to get your shafts redone for the bigger yokes
red, i get em at NAPA for about $25 a piece i believe it is. (just watch which ya get they have sealed also in the same line and covered the same) which ain't too bad since free if one goes bad. had em in my bronco goin on 3 yrs now trouble free. but they get greased quite offen since it's a mud toy.
Are those brute strength or brute force? If they're brute force I get them at advance auto (parts america) for $13.88. They have a lifetime replacement.
Those are the ones that I put in the front axle, so i guess the same ones can go in the shafts.
I tried the NAPA Brute Force joints and didn't like them. Out of 4 joints I got, 3 of them were very stiff and bound up before the DS was installed. I ended up trashing them in favor of Spicers. My driveshaft guy swears by them. I converted to 1330 joints all the way around though. So far so good. I've put the hurtin' on em' too. I blew the pinion out of a 9" dropping the clutch at 4K in the mud but the U-joints haven't even so much as wimpered.
On second thought i did notice that it came with very little grease from the factory, so I lubed them up big time before putting them together and then pumped them up after i assembeled it. You notice anything like that?
I guess I didn't think too much of the small amount of grease from the factory. I've always figured they came with just enough grease to hold the rollers in during assembly.
