i rencently purchased a remote starter for my 2003 ford f250 superduty. it is a great truck!! it handles like any other big truck would. and then some more. however i have run into a problem that i simply cannot solve. when installing a starter, one is required to tap into the tach line, but there isnt one. and connecting though a volt sensor isnt really a good idea. espically on those cold winter days. the truck will just crank, start, then run for 10 seconds then shut off. then repeat itself. crank start etc. can someone help me on this problem since the dealer says " thats all we can do".
the weird thing is, after i start it manually and run it for a little while, the remote starter then works perfectly. i can remote start it all day without any problems. it oly happens in the morning when it obiviously cold.

So you are saying the truck starts but shuts down Right!!?
It shouldn't do that. Is the remote shutting it off or would you have to restart it with the key anyway? My guess is that you need to have the starter recognize voltage increase when starting you have it set on tach sense...That would be why its shutting down. Am I right?
Go to bulldogsecurity.com/ and look up the schematic for your truck.
I got a remote starter for my truck. This thing is so cool!!! Sit inside Denny's at a window seat near the parking lot so you can see your truck. Then, when somebody walks next to it, start it! Freaks 'em out every time!!!
You need to find the customer acess wires under the dash in there is the clean tach wire.
its a Light green with a white tracer.
I think its labeled CTO (clean tach output)
Bulldog Security (manufacturer of remote starters) posts schematics on their website. It states: For '02-03 Superduty, use the white/pink tach sensor wire located in the BCM. Also states: For Tach on gasoline vehicles, use any coil wire that is NOT Red/Lt. Green. For Diesel vehicles, the Tach wire is Green or White and can be found in a 42-pin connector found underneath the Air Filter Box. Remove the Air Filter Box to access wires.
What remote starter kit do you have? if it is a Bulldog and you have a diesel note from Bulldog FAQ:
Q: Can I use this system on a vehicle with a diesel engine?
A: At this time the ONLY remote starters which are designed to work with diesel engines are the Bulldog remote starters Deluxe 12/22 and the Deluxe 62 units.
