I need to haul some dirt soon and I'm trying to figure out how much weight my truck can handle. The manual says the max payload is the GVWR listed on the sticker in door jamb (6250 lbs)minus the curb weight of the truck (5250lbs). According to this figure, my max payload is only 1000 lbs. If I add myself and 3 other 200 lb passangers, that reduces my payload to only 200 lbs??
Yeah, thats what you get with going supercab + 4wd + all the Xlt comfort upgrades.
But in all honesty- you'll still get 1500lbs of dirt in there, maybe even a ton.
Though honestly with a truck as nice as that, I don't see why you'd want to carry dirt in it. Lumber, drywall, siding- even cement blocks on a pallet I can see, but dirt?
Just go to your local Home Depot and rent one of those 3/4 ton GMC's they've got sitting around for the day - who cares about their truck- treat yours a little better than that bro.
You figured it right...if your truck DOES weigh 5250, it might be less than that? I would weigh the truck on a scale with full tank of fuel. Just make sure the tires have max air pressure before hauling all that weight.
You can probably squeeze 1000lbs, but she will squat quite a bit. I think with 2000 the bumper will be on the ground.
According to the spec sheet for the 2000 F150 S-cab, curb weight is 4611 lbs. I'm pretty sure the 1999 and 2000 have identical specs. I weighed my truck and it weighed 5250 lbs with me in it (180 lbs). So if the scale was accurate, it has a curb wieght of 5070 lbs. I don't know where that extras 460 lbs comes from.
Has anyone else weighed their truck and did it differ from the base curb weight?
If the scale I used was accurate, I have a payload capacity of 1180 lbs. That's not very much. If I'm carrying four 200 lb passangers, that means I can add a few tools and maybe a couple sheets of plywood, AND THAT'S ALL!
I thought a full size truck could carry more weight than that.
