Those Ford distributors have a nasty habit of twisting as you are setting it into the shaft. Check to make sure you haven't dropped in the distributor offset. When it drops into place sometimes it will want to twist to the easiest position on the oil pump drive, which is a hex shaft. That will throw it off without you even realizing it. Even so, you should have enough twisting room to correct it by moving it advanced/retard direction.
Don't forget to break in that new cam at 2,000 rpms for thirty minutes ( I think that's the correct number of minutes) in your driveway, or you may end up with a flat lobe in a few days.
Same here, baddad. I swear by them. I use rtv silicone on the seals and let them set so they won't slip while setting the manifold down onto the engine. The good ones are channeled so they will stay on the block.
