Roller Valvetrain

I am in the process of building up my 351w - 1988. I was going to go with a roller valvetrain until I realized how much it was. I have heard that some of the stangs and later small blocks has roller cams, lifters, and some roller rockers. Could I get the setup out of another mustang and put it in my truck? Seems like it would be doable. The shape of the block didnt change from 88 to say 94 did it? There were just holes drilled for the plate that holds the lifters inline. (I think) Just wondering if anyone knows. If there was a 302 or 351w that had the whole roller setup, could I put in it my 351W with some drilling and tapping? Are the lifter sizes the same? Thanks.

The lifter bore in a roller block is taller for the roller lifters. Thats why it cost so much to convert your non roller block to a roller set up.

This can be done two ways. One is with a smaller base circle cam using stock ford roller lifters and the other way is with special lifters and a stock ford roller. The lifters run close to $400.

So to answer your question no you can not just swap the stock roller pieces on to a non roller block.
