I hate all the lights and buzzers... I have the seat belt buzzers off (spend most of my time in the pasture) and do wear the belts on the road.. I also disconnected the purple wire below the column and got some more buzzers but the worst are still the 5-6 dings upon starting and the key in the accessory position and the door open... No radio with the driver doors open!!!! We used to unplug the speaker... I dug around and it appears that we can't do that anymore. I would prefer to disconnect rather than taping the ignition...
Also, we used to put a toggle switch in line to the microswitches on the door lights (Dome when the door opens) so that we could cut off the dome lights and still have the doors open...... Any suggestions? I know these are petty but I LIKE WHAT I LIKE!! Thanks for any help.

I hope we get some replies from the wizards on this one. I HATE those buzzers/Beepers/"safety" equipment. I just cut the wires in the old truck, I'd like to do it right this time.
There is a way to turn off the seat belt reminder, the dinging bell when the door is open and the keys are in the ignition and the lights.
The seat belt reminder thing is outlined in the service manual at my house. It is somewhat intensive as to the various switches and ignition key cycles that you have to do for me to remember right now. I'll post it when I get home.
The dinging bell can be turned off by pressing the seat belt release button, I believe. I have to run out to check. It will reset next time you start the truck.
I'm still working on the interior lights. There is a fix outlined on another site. I'll will ask the author of that post permission to copy it to here.
This subject was beat to death over at ford-diesel.com, and the lengthy solutions were posted by those in the "know". You might search over there under the "general" category.
yea, i went through the bs of disenableing the seat belt reminder took me several tries to do it but its worth it. now wll i want to do is get the door to stop dinging. look forward to findin out how.
i just went through this yesterday. i was looking for the buzzer to cut the wire, but it's all electronic. i ended up taking out the whole circuit board and now i have no dome light, buzzer, keyless entry, pw, or windshield wipers...oops! i'll have to find out how much that mistake will cost me on monday. i'm not giving up, when i buy the new part i will ask what part actually makes the noize and try to take it off the circuit board before reinstalling. i'll let u know how it goes.
I seen on a lot of cars and I'm pretty sure its on the trucks too.
the door switch is in the latch.
I saw a car were the dome light wouldn't shut of and I was looking for an hour or two to find the switch.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-Mar-02 AT 07:41 PM (EST)]I here ya on the seatbelt reminder it drive me nutz!At least you can reach over and just push down on the belt latch once and it stops.

Jeff
I have a 2002 F-350, the seatbelt was easy. Just unpluged the connector under the seat that went to the belt latch detector switch. And yes the door switch is in the door latch.
Jeff, Page 98 of the owners manual tells you how to disable the auto lock feature. It involves key on, key off, and punching the door lock button 3 times.
Oops! Sorry Jeffn, thats page 88 in the owners manual and not page 98 as I reported back to you for the Auto Lock disarm. It's page 98 in the F150 owners manual.
