Carpet replacement question
Can anybody give me some tips on replacing the carpet in a 2001 Ranger 4 door super cab. I have never done this before, so any pointers will be greatly appreciated! Is this a do-it-yourself project, how hard is it? Aside from removing the seats, how does the other trim come out, what holds it in? Thanks for any help!

The plastic trim along the door frame is held in by clips. Using a screw driver you can pry it up. Once you get one end loose the rest pulls out easily. That and the seats (and a couple of plastic pins under the seats) is about all that holds it in. I have never replaced the carpeting but I would think it is not difficult. I have had mine out to do a console and seat install. The OEM carpeting has a heavy backing and is form fitted to the floor pan. Are you purchasing a replacement carpet or using carpeting you purchase at a carpet store?

Are you sure you want carpet? The premolded mats are sure a lot easier to take care of. But either one is pretty easy. Remove the seats, (if you have airbags, disconnect the neg battery terminal for about 5 minutes), remove the trim pieces and slap it in. Make sure you clean every little piece of dirt, dust, rocks, and "stuff" before you put in the new ones, or it will wear a hole right through the new carpet.
