Start up issues
If I let up on the gas, it dies immediately. Most of the time, it starts right up and doesn't have any problems. I have no idea how old the timing chain is (had it for 4 mths), but I'm thinking that may be the prob? Second: If the timing belt needs to be replaced or the tensioner (if there is one), what kind of worktime we looking at here to replace/fix it? I'm new to the 390 engine...
Any help will be appreciated...
Secondly... forget about the timing "belt and tensioner", do not exist on these old bruisers. Sounds more like you have a carb issue but we need a little more. Do you have problems mostly during the first start up, where you located and what are the weather conditions, when it runs fine is that after its been going or an warm days, what is the carb and how big. You may even have something as simple as a vacuum line that softens and leaks....
All that helps to see what's going on. Give us a little more and we'll try to help.
