Can it be done on late model EFI? I have what I believe to be a bent/chipped intake valve on one bank. The others are fine on the both banks. I don't have the $$$ to get both heads completely redone yet, but I need to get this thing operating. Oh, and does anybody know where I can buy a single head gasket? Intake Gasket? Or at least the intake manifolds w/o the upper plenum gaskets? Is it advisable to just stick in a new valve, or is it Necessary to have it machined. I know one really should, but do they need to for only a couple months? Thanks.
Oh, I should clarify, I mean remove one head without completely removing the intake manifold, just unbolt from the left head, and disconnect anything in the way.
You'll have to break the seal on the intake manifold to remove either of the heads, so make it easy on yourself and pull the intake.
Also if a valve is bad the seat probably needs to be re-cut too otherwise it won't seal properly. Good chance if the valve has been moving around then the valve-guide is worn also.
Buying a complete engine gasket set will be cheaper in the long run. A whole gasket kit including both head gaskets are only around $42 from Jegs or Summit.
