If you went to a lighter oil that might cause the noise. If you changed to a different brand filter that often causes the problem.
Some people claim the Frams cause a lot of noise. Others swear by filters like Motorcraft with an anti drainback valve, as required by Ford.
I have good luck with Purolators(Don't have the anti drainback) and use synthetic 10W30. I tried some 0W30 in a different car and it made a lot of noise on start up.
Did the truck make the noise before the change, I think not but want to be sure. Is the noise all the time now or just after startup?
Does the noise sound like marbles hitting a cement floor? Noise only at around 50mph.I changed the oil and filter in my 77' 460 4v and it developed thr same noise. Used 10w40 and a Fram filter. I'll change that filter when I figure out how to stop the oil leak. Bangba.
