I bought a starter for my 1971 390 14 months ago. It started to go bad and grind which is unusual since I have stock exhaust manifolds. So, I returned it to Autozone under their lifetime warranty. They must have had too many returned. The price has increased from $29.99 to $39.99! Check out the slips:
So you had to pay for the second starter?? why would you have to pay again for a lifetime waranty part?
Back years ago I had 14 rebuilt master cylinders on my '78 F150 from Discount Auto Parts (now Advance) until I INSISTED they get me a brand new cylinder at no addidional cost!
I see what you are saying. What is the point of having a lifetime warranty if you have to change the specific engine part 2 or 3 times a year. I would rather buy a good part and have to change it every 3 or 4 years. Unless it's something like, say, a rad cap!
My neighbor went through 6 Autozone starters on a Mercury 302
in 3 weeks. The last one has lasted about 4 weeks so far.
I put a napa starter on my truck yesterday.
I hope it last longer than the AZ starters.
