Hey there.
I own a 1986 Ranger automatic 4wd supercab XLT and am having a hard time with it idling. It doesnt want to idle in drive, overdrive, 1st or 2nd gear at stops. Any hints would be good. It has new properly gapped spark plugs.
Welcome to FTE Mr.B.
I read your other post about a broken vacuum line. You absolutely must fix that and any other vacuum leaks there may be before you can look for other faults regarding your bad idle problem.
I haven't seen the other post, but a vacuum guage will tell you most of the sins of your engine. They are cheap, and worth the 10-15 bucks. A compression guage will fill out the troubleshooting problems. If you have both, you can determine about 90 percent of your problems.
