When I open my door it falls about a quarter inch, Does anyone know of an aftermarket manufacturer for door hinges? (Or a different soluion here) Ford wants $75 for each hinge - rip off.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 31-Mar-02 AT 08:29 PM (EST)]I think hinges are a dealer only part, like the last post said, perhaps a salvage yard or bite the bullet and hit the ford dealer.
It is a 95 Forf F-250, so I'm out of luck on the warranty - too bad cause the problem started in 98, when it was under warranty :-( anyways, I'll check the salvage yards, thanks guys
I just put new hinge pins & bushings in my '79 Bronco. Totally different application, but same situation. I replaced the pin and the bushings on the lower hinge. A 1/4" may just mean the bushings are shot and need replacement with an adjustment. My latest truck is a '97, so I might be blowing smoke too.
don't bother with junkyard hinges unless you want the same problem you have now. in the mid 80's ford got rid of the bushings in their hinges, so the pin and hinge rub on each other and wear the metal away.
