gas mileage

need help
I am only getting like 6-8mpg on my 87 f150 with an inline 6 and i have tried putting fuel injector cleaner,and a new air filter, and got different gas but there is no difference i am begging for help I dont have a code reader so is there any way i can do a little process of elimination to correct this problem. THanks
