I'm starting to experience an intermittent problem with the door ajar light. When it is cold outside, the door ajar light will not go out and the dome lights stay on. Start to drive about 100 feet and they both go out. It think it is happening on both doors, but mostly the drivers side. Any ideas what the problem is? Where are the door ajar switches in a 97 F-150 S/C? Thanks for your help.
I have been having the same problem with my 2000 250PSD. The only difference is that mine tends to do it when it is hot outside. Once the truck cools off inside it tends to stop. The dome light will go off and on while going down the road. Anyone ever had a problem like this? Should I try the WD-40 thing also? Could this be a hot relay problem? Hate to take it to the dealer and get the truck torn apart just for them to tell me they could not make it do anything wrong while it was in the shop.
Mine was doing that also, theres a stretch of road that's like 55 mph speed limit so I'd take that and get to work and close the door and the lights stay on. Any other time it didn't happen though. Finally one morning it did when I was leaving home so I grabbed the WD-40 and drenched the lock mechanism and shut the door and it's been fine for a few weeks now.
do the WD-40 thing...i just did it yesterday and now my lights go off right when i shut both doors...like it's supposed to! now i gotta fix my driver side door lock that sticks!
mine did the same thing i replaced the door switches and the solved the problem. But the switches are 70 dollars a piece and are quite labor intensive. So i would try the wd 40 but if it dont work you will have to live with it or replace them. The switches are located in the door itself.
