I want to put the 3" skyjacker body lift under my 71 hiboy. Anybody ever done a body lift on one of these old boys? How hard was it? Can i do it or is it for the body shop? Thanks
I personally would not recommend a body lift. You will have problems with transmission/clutch linkage, steering shaft, wiring, brake plumbing, and your bumpers will not look right anymore. If you want to gain 3" I would suggest a suspension lift, which is relatively cheap for these trucks since they do not have independent suspension. Of course, a suspension lift is more expensive than a body lift, but this is all just my opinion. I would save a few extra bucks for a good quality suspension lift.
The body lift has to be done no matter what I just need to know if it's something I can do myself or not. I'm trying to eventually achieve about 8 inches of lift, the biggest susp. lift is 4" so I need the 3 in. body for sure. If anyone has done one, please fill me in, i need to know pretty soon.
Thanks i'd appreciate that. i have a friend that can lift anything and he said he can get me 3" of body without spending a dime hardly so we're going to give it a shot. i'd still like to hear how yours works out too. good luck
ok ok I put one on my truck not to long ago I'll prolly take it off when I get a suspension lift ..its works great i did it in my back yard....here what you must mess with wire were fine, brake ines bend alittle. bumper made my own brakets, cluth just take 3 inches of metal and weld in on there works perfect, throttle you should be able to adjust on the carb...and it realy just takes some time I put mine on ALONE in about 1 1/12 day....its safe they are like 70,000 Psi tested and they work fine for larger tires and whatever else...you will have 7 inches of lift with it cause 4 factory then 3 body ..........
