Cab mounted brake light

My cab brake light is currently a #912. It has lasted a long time. But it was made by GE and I think therein lies the problem with these new foreign made replacements. They manufacture light weight filaments to save money. The filament in a #912 measure about 1 ohm in resistance so you might try a #906 that measures about 2 ohms in resistance. My owner's manual actually calls for a #906. It might be a little dimmer, but still better than a burnt out bulb and should last a little longer.

i dont even have a third brake light. mine came with a cap that has a rubber seal that butts up against the cab and where the light assy was there is some thick black tape. the light assy was in the glovebox. the cap came with a brake light that snapped into a housing against the top of the back glass, but it kept getting bumpped and knocked off almost every time i would get in there, so i just removed it completely. i may have to check to see if im violating some law, i dont have any yearly inspections like some do.
