Excursion - crash tests?

We're about ready to drop the cash for a new 04 Excursion 4x4 PSD. My wife has been asking about crash tests and safety. I'm guessing that the Ex would be pretty safe due to it's mass and size, but what about rollovers, etc?

Has anyone seen any published crash tests? I searched the various crash test sites (dot.gov, etc.) and didn't find anything.

Thanks!

Yup. He hit my wife semi-broadside while sliding down a slight hill. 'Bout a 40mph impact.

Maybe that's why Monsta moved to Hawaii.... had enough of those nasty Massachusetts drivers.

Then again, that's probably where he learned to drive.

I have been in two accidents in my 2002 Excursion. One where someone tried to pass me on the right on the shoulder. He was doing about 95MPH... hit the guardrail and bounced into my wifes door. It put a hole about the size of a baseball in the outer skin. Tore up the little Nissan pretty bad. The turkey still tried to run from the police and paid dearly with his life.
The second was about 7 months later when a drunk lady lost control of her car and went through the median and I broadsided her doing 65MPH. Excursion vs Pontiac Grand AM is no contest.
About 12K worth of damage to the X, but no injurys. Trust me, I feel safe in it! My wife has a volvo, cause you never know when some idiot is going to do something stupid!!!
It has not been federally crash tested because it is exempt due to GWVR.

As far as rollovers are concerned, I don't think you have a thing to worry about unless you REALLY over do it. I've done some things in my X that would normally roll a suburban or any other SUV. All of these were merely reactions that saved myself and my X from a crash. I was late to a getogether one night and I was racing down the road, when a dog was walking around in a drunken stuper. I honked and swerved from one side of the road to the other (there was no on-coming traffic) but no matter where I swevred thats where he went. I ended up running him over and pushing the corpse to the side. I was a little shaken up but suprised at how well my X held the road and didn't roll. There were a few other incidents, but I think this one says it all. If you do decide to dump some cash into an 04' X its a great investment that you'll never regret, especially with the 6.0 Powerstroke. Have fun shopping and don't let the dealer push you around he is there to serve you, not vice versa.

I really have to admit, I feel extremely safe in my X as well. I was actually surprised about the handeling in corners of the Excursion.
I run 33's on mine, which are wider than the stock tires, but regardless, handeling is superb.

In regards of other people crossing your line... just put some air horns on the X and you are all set... Trust me, people will have a different respect when you blowing them out of your way....

Mercedes meets EX

I got hit around 25-30 mph on the front right side of the Ex by a C class Mercedes. I was idling across a parking lot. It jolted me pretty good and I was afraid that I had sustained major front end damage. To my delight I got out of the truck and saw that the front of the Mercedes was pushed in about 8 inches with a cracked radiator and bent front fenders. I looked at my truck and I had a dent in the bumper.

Overall, I paid $300 for a new bumper and a front end alignment. THank god for the 6 inch blocker bar in the front. THat is what the Mercedes hit dead on. The Mercedes had about $3500 damage.

GO AMERICAN IRON!!
