I've had the vent glass on each side replaced, and the onsite shops have done a pretty poor job at sealing the glass up to the point that water leaks in through the channel that the vent glass slides into.
I'm going to slide the vent glass back out, clean out the channels, and reinstall the glass. From the looks of it, I just put glass setting tape on the channel sides of the glass and slide it into place. Besides the tape, should I also put some weatherstrip adhesive in there, or should the tape be enough? The tape that's in there now is torn and is allowing water in.
Additionally, there is a special tool for pulling the glass out, but it looks like it just gives you a better grip on the glass. Has anybody removed the glass by simply pulling it by hand?
Note that this is not the triangle-shaped weather seal that the glass pivots against, it's the actual channel for the triangle-shaped glass to slide into that pivots. It looks like Napa has the glass-setting tape in small rolls.
Yes, and it was pretty simple. I just went to the shop that installed it and they fixed it in about five minutes. They opened the vent window, pulled the glass out by hand, cleaned the channel, put a new length of the sealing tape on the glass, and tapped it back in with a rubber mallet. It was free under warranty. I never did find the tape myself, but I also didn't check the auto glass suppliers. I'm sure that most places would do it for just a few dollars, or maybe a lot more dollars since you're in Canada
they could of used a aftermarket glass from a cheaper wholesaler, and the thickness could be the problem but like bigric said i'd go back to shop and have them fix it, could need a new gasket old one could be dried out, good luck...
