I am not very auto savy so please excuse my stupidity when it comes to mechanical issues. I am the new proud owner of a 2001 F150 Super Cab. V8 5.4L 2WD. Even though it is not a spanking new truck, I never thought I would be so head over hills about a vehicle. I do not do any off roading... I am in strictly for the looks. My question is regarding headers and dual exhaust. I teach highschool and coach football, wrestling, and track so I soend a lot of time with kids. My wife says I love my truck and job more than I love her Anyways, I asked some of the kids about dual exhaust. I have seen other trucks with and think it looks really sharp. Some exhaust systems also sound really good! I have done some shopping around and found what I believe is a pretty competitive price on adding dual exhaust with flowmaster mufflers. If I go ahead and have this done now, and decide to add headers later will there be a problem or should I do it all at once. For $$ purposes I would like to make modifications in small steps but dont want to end up paying more money down the road. Would adding headers later possibly not be compatible with the existing exhaust?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
You tell me? My mother was a huge "Gone With The Wind" fan. I live in Georgia and come from a family that is about as Suthern as one can get. When I was pricing out the dual exhaust, more than a few places tried to sell me Edlebrock shorty headers. Were they taking advantage of my lack of trucking knowledge?? Should I just go with dual exhaust. I am just looking for a nice look and good sound.
Are you talking about running true duals, or a catback system (one inlet from youre Y pipe, then dual outlets on the muffler). If you are speaking of a catback system, you shouldnt have to do anything special to add headers later down the road.
if you reun true dual pipes you would have to get some more catalytic convertors to put on the other side and then run it from there. if i was you i would go with 1 single, dual out flowmaster or magnaflow would sound and flow better and the 2 chrome tips out the back.
