Just noticed that clock is staying on in my 99 F-350. Also when I turn on the radio or activate the electric windows they operate. This is all without the key being on. Only way to shut off is to disconnect both batteries. Any Ideas?I've tried all I know. Help!! Thanks Carroll Allison
Sounds to me like the ignition key switch is going south, providing your acc. wire 12V constantly. There is a relay that is timed for the windows, but the radio should still turn on and off with the key (so long as everything behind it is still factory). Does the fan for the Heat/AC stay on with everything else?
Mike, appreciate your response. They are hard to get regarding electrical problems. I disconnected both batteries last night. After getting your thoughts, I reconnected this A.M. to check the fan motor. Whoopee. Everything is O.K., now. You are probably right re: the ignition switch. I'll keep watch and hopefully all is right for now. Will keep forum posted. Thanks again for your help. Carroll
We had a similar problem with my mom's Navigator last year. Radio, overhead console, and the heater fan would just stay on. Never did find anything wet/loose/shorted or anything else. Ended up replacing the battery and everything's been fine since. Evedently these newer trucks are sensitive to low voltage.
Not trying to offend you or anything, but did you open a door first? Some electrical still stays on after you shut the key off, but the doors never opened.
