Why not remove the speakers from where they are, and slide the seat back and reinstall the speakers up against the front of the seat? It is not like you will step on them, but maybe spill something on them. You can face them any way you like, and you're out nothing. If you like the sound then build a box, or try the door mount (which sounds like a great idea). Is it possible to mount them to the ceiling, with some bondo filler to smooth out the lines? Do you have the room to mount them in the center of the roof like a consoul. hehe. my .02!

hey man you could put the speakers in the doors it would be a lot easier than messing with the boxes like rick said but you could also try to build some kick panels those are pretty much boxes that will sit on the floor right next to the brake on the driver side and by the passengers right foot. Depending on how good you want them to look they could be difficult. When i made mine i used fiberglass and they came out great. But do whatever you want. Personally i would get rid of he single cab and get an extended but thats me i need a lot of room im 6'4'' and could never have a small truck. I also couldnt fit my stereo in a little truck
