I am considering taking at least one, if not both, jump seats out of the back of my new FX4 LII Extended cab to make better user of that rear space.....was wondering if anyone has done this and if so, is it easy? Does it leave a "gaping whole" look to the interior of the truck?
Any advice/experience would be greatly appreciated!
Ken00 is right, there is no carpet underneath them. They come out easily enough, just pull the plastic trim piece off the bottom front, take off the seatbelt (you need to do this to get to one of the bolts), then remove the four 13mm bolts and one torx bolt (45). The seatbelt is attached with a torx bolt as well (same size). I needed a 6-inch extension for my ratchet to get to the torx bolt.
As for aesthetics, without the carpet it pretty much looks like you were recently robbed. I took out one of mine for an Infinity Basslink install, so you can't see the missing carpet anyway. But it is in the back of the cab on the floor, so maybe you won't care what it looks like.
Well, I finally got around to doing this and I am very happy with the resulting space. Now I just need to find a small chunk of black carpet to cover the corner...or maybe find someone to weld together a little storage bin that I can bolt to the floor in the seats absence....
Anyway, I took some pics of the process and posted them to my gallery if anyone is interested in seeing the process and most importantly the result.
wow they have changed alot from my jump seats. mine come out of the door. i dont have the 4 door. looks cool though. tobad my rangers only got 69000 on her or id buy a new one just like yours.
I occasionally have people back there or i would do it. That would really help if installing a system. I normally just opile my school stuff up between the seat an the jump seat. It hasnt fell out yet, and i can still see out the back window.
