Hello,
Looking to add roll bars on the back of my truck. The problem is the ones i want i was told wont fit on my truck. I want single on single but want the kickers to go on top of my wheel wells. The only ones i can find are " Grizzly" and they go between the wheel wells.
Any one have any that go on top. I have a shortbox.
well I have seen them go to the top on some but I always though they looked too steep coming off the main bar but i though smitty built used to build on that way , I have one that goes behind the wheel well close to the side of the bed, and on a short box it goes clear to the back of the bed, and I like that look. I am going to get rid of it but probably too far from you to be much help
why don't you buy the one that goes b/t the wheel wells (Grizzly) and then cut the rear 2 supports so that it would sit level on top of the wheel wells....then take a h-lift and spread them apart so that they are wide enough to sit on top! my dad and I did this on his Bronco and it works great!
That actually sounds like a great idea Jason, I will definetly consider that. Im trying to think of a way to install bars with a truck toolbox in the back. I dont think that would work unless its a custom thing though as my tool box sits up on the sides of the bed where my bed rails are.
If I can find a tube bender, I plan to make a CORR style bed for my 78 (hopefully before summer gets here). I plan to get a bed from the boneyard with decent sides, and those will be mounted to the bars.
I just need to find out what kind of tubing to look for so I know what kind of bender to get. (as you can see, this project isn't very far along).
