Hey RobMcQ, have you seen some of the new advertizing from Edelbrock ? They are trumpeting their new hydraulic rolller lifters- 'made in the USA by a respected engine builder'. But they aren't saying who. I wondered if you knew or had any ideas. I have also been wondering about using lifters from the other ford V8s in the FE. From the outside, it kinda looks like you can do it, and the sizing is usually the same. How differant are the heights of the recess for oil delivery, the height of the pushrod seat, and is the amount of internal travel that the FE lifter has really needed ? DF
I kinda like the idea of running sleeves in the lifter bores to allow running the smaller diameter lifters. SBC lifters could greatly reduce the weight.
I bet Edelbrock is just using the Crane parts I am running. Don't they make a habit of relabeling other brand parts for their use?
The Crane lifters appear to be a good part. A bit pricey at around $410 a set (maybe that's typical). Mine appear to be working well. The Crane springs were a bit of a dissapointment, coming up well short of needed pressure after only a few hunderd miles of running. These were the Crane reccomended part numbers.
Wow, just noticed that Crane completely remodeled their web-site!
