From what I can tell from my and others' experiences, wind resistance (frontal area) makes more of a difference than weight when towing with these trucks. For me, pulling the 8' wide x 12' high travel trailer absolutely killed performance. If your truck handles the weight to your satisfaction, I don't see a "need" to upgrade to the full PP. You'd probably be amazed at how much difference a cat-back system makes though.

What all have you done to your truck? What was your best money spent for towing performance? I too have the V-10 and would like to have it stay in OD going over those slight grades and passing semi's while towing my 32' TT. I didn't know if a better flowing muffler was the key or if it requires major upgrades (headers and the like). Like the rich man answered when asked how much money he needed to be happy...just a little more...

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-Apr-02 AT 09:19 AM (EST)]The only performance mod on my truck is the Banks Powerpack. It isn't cheap, but I'd say it is worth the cost if you plan on keeping your truck a while.
I installed the airbox & cat-back portion first then drove it a few days. Just that part of the kit made a noticeable improvement in performance. Unfortunately, I didn't get to tow my trailer anywhere to see what kind of improvement in towing it gave.
When time allowed, I tackled the [link:www.candle-creator.com/nomo/f350/banks/banks.html|header & Y-pipe installation]. Those components made as much of an improvement as the muffler... doubling the grin factor and tripling the weight of my foot.
I plan on having the truck dyno'd to see what the real numbers are, but until then, check out the claimed values in Banks' test report. The 'ol butt-dyno says that the relative difference in power (twice as much) between the Stinger and Powerpack is accurate.
