New Truck Status

I finally got fed up and called FOMOCO today since the dealer told me that the trk was built last Tue and he believed it should arrive by tomorrow. Called him Mon this wk and he couldn't even give me a status. The customer service lady told me that the trk had been built and released from the factory, she couldn't say when it had been released from the factory or even what the build date was She then told me that the expected e.t.a. at the dealer would be sometime between the 19th to the 26th Does this sound like a crock or what? I'm in northeastern PA. Kentucky trk plant can't be more than 10 or 12 hrs. I'm told that it would be sent by rail to Buffalo NY and then trailered from there down to PA. Makes sense, the train will go right by my town on it's way to Buffalo!!!! Does anybody know if there's a way I can trace the rail shipment. I went to BNSF's site as indicated in a very early post to this board but they won't give me access to their services....they've tightened up security with all of the recent natn'l events. Any input would be appreciated.:-)

Sounds like they are going to make you wait a little longer. Perhaps if you pester them enough they'll find out where it is and when (exactly) it'll arrive. Just don't pester them too much or they'll make you wait even longer. ;-)

It's unfortunate that your new SD is going to take a while to arrive at the dealership.Rail is slow. The logistics just make it that way.It is much cheaper for Ford to ship by rail.Just to give you an idea how much they save let me tell you this.I work at a Ford automatic transaxle plant. If we ship transmissions from Cincinnati,Oh. to Kansas City,Mo.by truck it costs Ford an extra $50 per transaxle versus shipping by rail.I think it takes about a month to ship these by rail, plus you can load a rail car to the roof with these things and still not be overweight where a truck is smaller and can't be filled completely without being overweight.

I hope this helps explain your long shipping wait.

Enjoy your new SD when it arrives and let us know how you like it.
