I bought a 76 Ford 3/4 ton with 4x4. I want to change the fuild inside the axle but I am not sure what kinda axle it is.
On the axle near the front cover are these numbers.
If you were looking at the cover.
2 on the upper left side
Diamond with some writing on the upper right side
4-8E on the lower left side
C38 on the lower right side
If you were looking at the drive line side
347 on the lower left side.
I am guessing you bought a 1976 F250 4x4 pickup. They usually had a Dana 60 axle. Should be a metal tag under one of the cover bolts with id numbers. If not Dana 60 has 10 bolts on a 12-1/8" cover with 35 spline axles.
A little more info as to the number of cover bolts and model of your truck will help us narrow your search.
