back again. Problem this round, something is snapping/clunk in 4 wheel about every 20-100' driven on the left side. Slightly notice it in 2 wheel but 4 it's loud and you can feel the clunk. It's almost like when you feel the transfer case bind up, yet feels like it's right in the left side, up front. Yes I have to put new tires and rotors up front, upper and lower ball joints and inner tie rod on the right side. U joint in front drive lines feel solid. Took it to Les Schwabs for look over and of course he (I don't believe he drove it he would have definitely felt/heard it ) didn't get past what I mentioned needs to be done. HELP please.
Do you have automatic locking hubs? It's most likely a bad hub. The automatic hubs are notoriously weak and break often and they will often make a banging racket like you described.
Are you driving this on a hard surface in 4 wheel drive? If so, binding and clunking is normal and that's why you should never drive it on a hard surface in 4 wheel drive.
No, it's only in 4 wheel in the snow. It's bad enough it's parked. Had to move it in the driveway (still covered in snow) the other day got it forward and back a little before it did the loud clunk, (w/o really any turning like binding up). Is there a way to check the hub w/o pulling it all off first?
