302 EFI missing under accel
89 302 EFI with about 26k miles on new short block, 116k overall. It runs fine, but when I drive at highway speed for any period of time and then stop or slow down and try to accellerate again, it skips pretty bad. I usually give it more throttle and it goes a little better and then finally hits on all cylinders after about 5 seconds or more of this. It seems as if 2 or more cylinders aren't firing and then they catch up and the engine smooths out. If I sit at a red light and idle a minute or two before I accell, it doesn't happen. Any ideas? Are your spark plugs fowling out? (need changing)
Replace your distributor cap, rotor, plugs, plug wires first. And then we can go from there.
These are items involved with a basic tune up. You could have a bad plug or two or even bad plug wired that are grounding out when you accelerate.

sound like ignition wires to me, my truck did the same thing , ran perfect at idle, but under aload or highway speeds it would miss like crazy
