89 302 EFI with about 26k miles on new short block, 116k overall. It runs fine, but when I drive at highway speed for any period of time and then stop or slow down and try to accellerate again, it skips pretty bad. I usually give it more throttle and it goes a little better and then finally hits on all cylinders after about 5 seconds or more of this. It seems as if 2 or more cylinders aren't firing and then they catch up and the engine smooths out. If I sit at a red light and idle a minute or two before I accell, it doesn't happen. Any ideas? Thanks
sound like ignition wires to me, my truck did the same thing , ran perfect at idle, but under aload or highway speeds it would miss like crazy
parks is right, give your truck a "full tune-up"
dont forget to change your fuel filter and pcv valve
